Schuchmann Structural Associates, a full-service structural engineering firm, is currently searching for a high quality, motivated structural engineer to join our team.

In a collaborative effort, you will work closely in the office with other on-site members of the design and detailing team to prepare high quality structural construction documents. Other responsibilities will include preparation of project specifications; coordination with other engineering disciplines; review of structural submittals, RFI responses and construction field observations.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Versatile, with general experience designing the components of a full structural system – including both vertical and lateral loads (wind & seismic) – as well as proficient with a variety of project types.
• Work closely with the design team to ensure drawings are accurate and completed on time.
• Prepare clear and concise design calculations using handwritten or computer-generated calculations.
• Coordinate structural project work with geotechnical, architectural, mechanical and other members of the design and construction team.

Desired Skills & Experience:

Successful candidate may be required to manage projects, paying particular attention to time management, budget and project scheduling requirements. The ideal candidate will have 0 to 5 years of structural engineering experience in a design/consulting office and will possess the following skills and qualifications:

• Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis.
• Registered as an EIT.
• Technical knowledge of relevant design codes such as IBC, ASCE, ACI and AISC as required for the design of steel and concrete structures.
• Proficient in the use of AutoCAD. Experience with Revit is a plus.
• Excellent leadership, computer, and technical skills; and written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong technical background with firm grasp of design concepts without relying on software.
